We were really excited to find this Bordeaux at Costco and at one of the best prices we've ever seen.
It was a complete surprise since the Costco app's new search feature didn't show it in our search results as we were scoping out the inventory in advance. The app is a huge step in the right direction, but there are still some kinks to be worked out.

Chateau Cantemerle is consistently one of the better Bordeaux buys under $40-50 a bottle, right alongside Sociando Mallet, which is another name to commit to memory. Both are Haut-Medoc bottles that overdeliver for the price.
The 2020 vintage of Chateau Cantemerle is one we are familiar with, and we actually already had a couple bottles stashed in the cellar. But this price is unbeatable so we added a few more.
What you get here is classic Bordeaux, well made, well structured and with aging potential. It's no wonder it again pulled down some nice ratings from the top critics, including 91 from Jeb Dunnuck, up to 95 from Wine Enthusiast.

This is a medium to full bodied wine with aromas of black fruit, cedar and earth; nice dark berry fruit, plum with notes of tobacco and mineral; great mouthfeel, dry dusty finish.
We really like it now, and can't wait to revisit down the line. A great Costco buy and a perfect, rather affordable, choice to lay down in the cellar.

I can't get the app to work at all. Eagan MN. No matter what wine number I put in, even one the store has, it comes up blank.
My husband and I bought a case of 1989 and 1990 Cantemerle when they were released, about $20/bottle. Still have 2 of each. They have been such delicious wines, a little jammier than a typical Bordeaux.

Be sure you are going through the warehouse tab, not the shop tab.

I was delighted to see this wine in today’s blog review since the oldest wine in my cellar is the 1982 Chateau Cantemerle Haut Medoc. I have never opened it and am not sure I ever will, but I will try to find some of the 2020 to put down along side the ‘82. I tried to attach a copy of the bottle label here but it wouldn’t attach.

Awesome to hear. Pretty cool you have the ‘82. Hope you find some more vintages for your collection.
