It's been a little while since we've come across a bottle of straight Monastrell (Mourvedre) at Costco. Our last review on one of these wines was just about two years ago with the very tasty Ego Infinito which we rated 90 points.
Retail price for this bottle seems to be around $20 with some online outlets selling it for between $15-$18, so Costco's $7.89 price is the best around by a wide margin.

Note the special price indicator (ends in $.78) and it also has the star on the top right of the placard indicating once this wine is gone, it may not be restocked.
Medium to dark purple in the glass, red and dark berry aromas which carry through to the palate; medium plus in body with grippy tannins; nice flavors of raspberry, blackberry, even a little cranberry; long, dry finish.

This wine drinks way above its price point. 90 points from us, with a big recommendation for fans of Spanish reds, and especially those looking for something a bit different than the usual varietals.
